S7 NovaFFL Champions: Hawks

Congratulations to the Hawks for winning their 1st NovaFFL Championship. By a score of 13-12 the Hawks were able to defeat the Syndicate in a classic NovaFFL match-up played on maybe the muddiest field conditions a NovaFFL Championship has ever been played on.

The Syndicate put the 1st points of the day on the board early in the 1st half with a pass from AndyB to Fru to go up 6-0 (the XP was no good). The Hawks struck back and took the lead (7-6) with an Ott TD scramble (the XP was good).

The Syndicate ended the 1st half strong and re-took the lead on a TD pass from AndyB to Slim (12-7). The 1st half came to a close with no other points being scored by either team. After the initial scores from each team the defensive play dominated the rest of the half.

The 2nd half began just like the 1st half ended, lots of defense! The Hawks were able to use the ol’ ‘bend-but-don’t-break’ mantra and gave up the short, over the middle routes to Syndicate but tighten up when they got near the redzone. The Hawks scored first in the 2nd half on a TD pass from Ott to Cody, the XP was no good (13-12). The Hawks QB Ottskie was able to bail the Hawks out with his scrambling and extend drives while draining the clock. A long 3rd down completion from Ott to Matt (#26) would allow the Hawks to get a new set of downs and more importantly keep the ball out of AndyB and the rest of the Syndicates hands.

With less than 2min left in the game, the Hawks were able to run the clock out and secure their 1st ever NovaFFL Championship.
